WHAT IS LEADING EDGE: STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR EXISTING BUSINESSES?

LEADING EDGE: STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR EXISTING BUSINESSES is an 8-week business development course featuring the nationally-recognized GUIDED Business Plan™ curricula as well as the Business Model Canvas. The program is a combination of in-classroom sessions, interactive learning exercises and conversations with subject experts. Not only will you write the majority of your strategic plan in class, you will also learn best practices and money-saving tips from your fellow entrepreneurs. Leading the course is facilitator Mark Bittle, who has built seven-figure businesses in the real estate and financial industries. His expertise, combined with that of the weekly guest speakers, will help you get to your goals faster as they share what has worked for them. As you develop your business plan, you will also prepare a presentation to pitch to lenders, investors and/or potential clients. You will develop tools to attract customers, gain exposure and become financially efficient. At the end of the course, you will have the foundation of a business plan, media kit, operations plan, sales strategy, customer acquisition plan, and financial analysis. This is a fast-paced course for the ambitious business owner who wants to get to their goals faster.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Eight 2.5-hour sessions, including interactive group work, guest speakers, plus interactive expert roundtables
  • Specific focus on the following topics:
    • Strategic Planning using the Business Model Canvas
    • ProfitCents financial training and projections
    • Market research assistance
    • Business data reporting and analyzing
  • Five hours of one-on-one consulting with our certified SBDC consultants
  • Continuous feedback on your business plan throughout the course
  • Entry into a class-wide business plan competition for a chance to win prizes and have your business plan reviewed by a banker and an accountant 
  • Entry into an annual statewide business plan competition with cash prizes
  • Direct connections with local and statewide lenders

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Businesses must be operating for at least one year by the first class. 

INVESTMENT:

The cost to register is $400 per student (additional representatives from the same company are $250 each). Payment is not required upon registration, but must be completed by or on the first day of class.
