Courses for Creatives



Together with the Pikes Peak Arts Council (PPAC), Pikes Peak SBDC offers a variety of free and low-cost interactive workshops each year to help emerging and established artists with comprehensive, arts-focused training, information, and business skills.  

With support from Colorado Creative Industries (CCI), this partnership brings together both organization's missions to help artists on a path to greater sustainability and self-sufficiency.


  • Cultivating Your Story  (April 20, 2017)

  • The Tim Gill Center for Public Media West Conference Room; 5:00-6:30 PM

  • Learn how to best tell your personal artist’s story for marketing purposes. What draws people to your work? How do you create a unique identity surrounding your creative mind? How do you engage with your audience and arts consumers? Informational seminar and Q&A presented by Mark Bittle, Director of Marketing and Development for Gazette Media of Greater Colorado.

  • Creating an Interactive And Informative Experience (June 8, 2017)
  • iSpace at Citadel Mall; 5:30-7:00 PM

  • Artists, how do you… Create an interactive experience and dialogue surrounding your work? Explain your art and process? Interact with the public to create an experience and to cultivate the artist/buyer relationship, garner understanding, and bring the public into your artist’s world? Learn how to best incorporate interactive activities into public events and spaces through a dynamic panel discussion and presentation.

  • How do artists employ various social media platforms and techniques to gain a following, instill a brand, and increase business? Learn from local social media mavens on best practices and when to abandon them. 

  • Local Opportunities for Creatives (October 18, 2017)
  • S.P.Q.R. Experiential Art Space and Studio Gallery; 5:30-7:00 PM

  • A compilation of local artists will address opportunities that exist to showcase and exhibit work and performance in Colorado Springs. How do you best approach a gallery, venue, or other arts space with your work and portfolio? What are the logistics of booking a music gig, gallery show, recital, or showcasing another body of work? What are actions you can take today to advance your visibility as a local artist?
