This workshop series is designed to empower entrepreneurs to manage their business's financials. Delivered by expert practitioners, these lively workshops and roundtables will give you practical tips and resources to help you grasp various financial concepts in your small business. The workshops are designed to work in tandem with the one-on-one free and confidential consulting that SBDC offers. You will learn various concepts, strategies and tools in this track that will supplement the free resources and consulting available to you.

CORE TRAINING:


Developing a Solid Financial Plan
Learn how to increase revenue and lower expenses in order to set your business on a path toward financial soundness. In this workshop we will learn how to calculate break-even, determine an appropriate pricing strategy, determine COGS (cost of goods sold), budget, find industry standards, and more! This is a working session...we encourage you to bring your laptop with Excel or similar financial software if possible. Although it's not necessary, doing so will allow you to leave with actual financial calculations completed!

Basics of Bookkeeping
This workshop is designed for the entrepreneur with little or no experience in business accounting, and is taught by a local CPA. The workshop will cover functions of record keeping: cash versus accrual systems, recording transactions, revenue, expenses, and depreciation, accounts payable and receivable, and more.

Tax Planning Essentials
This workshop is a realistic starting point for small businesses wanting to strengthen their understanding and mastery over their business taxes.

Understanding Financial Statements
This interactive roundtable provides a top-line view and understanding of the key financial statements that need to be understood to be a successful business owner, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, Cash Flow Statements, and helpful ratio calculations.

It is highly recommended that you take advantage of our free one-on-one consulting after taking relevant classes so that the specific needs of your business can be addressed in a confidential setting.
